Ibanez EHB1505MS

Ibanez EHB1505MS

I recently picked up a new bass. It’s a multi-scale five string with a 35″ B string and a 33″ G. Behold, the Ibanez EHB1505MS in “Ocean Inlet” flat. Did I mention that it had no headstock and that it weighs just over seven pounds?

I was going to buy it new from sweetwater, but a friend suggested I look into a local store, so I called them up. (They are 40 minutes away and I don’t drive anymore.) They were very nice to me. They gave me good advice and a 15% discount for no apparent reason. Free delivery, too. I even got an email from their lead tech telling me they would set it up for free. Win!

It’s really great to play. Although I have to look into the pickup heights. Blending both together sounds very middy, like the bridge pickup is way louder than it should be. Also, the knobs feel cheap. But otherwise it’s fantastic. Everything I hoped it would be.

Yes, I did pay over $1,500 for it. But I said to myself if this fine instrument isn’t for you, then who is it for? You’ve been playing for forty years. Just get it. So I did. Isn’t it gorgeous?

Thanks for visiting! It’s me, Scott. New here? Might want to start with the About page. Or maybe just dig in to my very latest post which is on your left. Older posts are down below.

Taco Crimes

Taco Crimes

I went out to eat not long ago at a local place. I ordered their carnitas "street tacos," which come three to an order. When they arrived I learned that it is perfectly possible to ruin an otherwise delicious taco–tender pork, diced onions, fresh cilantro, creamy...

You may not know this, but my job brings me into contact with a lot of people with intellectual or developmental disabilities. That’s because the company I work for makes technology to help people with disabilities live more independently. I’m very proud of what we...

Let’s Learn All About Sciatica!

Over the weekend of June 3 and 4 I began to experience a painful sensation in my right hip and down my right leg. Finally in the wee hours of Sunday evening I had to message work to say I didn't know if I would be able to be in the office on Monday, as I could not...

House of Horrors

House of Horrors

My interest in US politics lately has mostly been just waiting for the department of justice to indict someone–anyone–for their role in planning the 2020 coup attempt. I'm not sure what outcome it will bring, but I feel those indictments must come or the DOJ will have...

My Multi-Scale Future

My Multi-Scale Future

I'm a two bass guitar guy. One is definitely not enough, but three seems like maybe too much. So I try to cover as much ground as I can between the two I have. Bass number one is a standard scale passive four-string jazz bass. That's my Sire Marcus Miller V5. It's a...

Remember back in July when I wrote that America will solve its gun violence problem when David Hogg is speaker of the House? I wasn't kidding. And this is how it begins. Congratulations to Maxwell Frost, 25, and the people of central Florida who just elected him to be...
