It’s the ultimate clickbait. And, yeah, I took the bait. But I just can’t let this one go. In the steaming pile of bullshirt that is this article, Jake Peterson tells us exactly why You Should Just Switch To Android Already.
Apple, Peterson concedes, makes things that are easy to set up and use. Their ecosystem has a lot to offer. It’s nice. But what if you want to use someone else’s smartphone? Well, you lose many of those perks. Damn you, Apple! They’ve tricked you into using their product by making it great. And then, to trap you into continuing to use it, they… I dunno. Refuse to give Google their cool features? Maybe they somehow prevent Google from creating cool features of their own. Who knows. Peterson doesn’t seem to.
To make matters worse, all those apps and games and whatnot that you bought through Apple’s App Store? You’ll have to buy them all again if you switch to Android. Is this also true of the things you buy in Google’s Play App Store if you switch to an iPhone? Peterson doesn’t say, so we may never know. Except we do know. The answer is yes the same happens when you switch to iPhone from an Android phone.
Should you persist in making this transition from iPhone to Android, Peterson does have a suggestion: Let Facebook dig deeper into your life and the lives of all your friends and family! Why? Because Google’s messaging app is shit and as a result your best option is to convince your whole crew to use WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger.
Ok, not everything this guy says is bullshirt. Peterson does say that if a smartphone from a different manufacturer catches your eye, “go for it.” I’m 100% behind this idea. In fact, I live by it. It just so happens that I have never seen a non-Apple smartphone that made me the slightest bit jealous. Ever. Could it happen one day? For sure. But it hasn’t happened yet.
