Anything interesting happen this week? Let’s get into it.

I’m no legal expert, but it seems to me that if someone threatens an election official to get them to commit fraud and also commits sedition by inciting people to violent insurrection against the government of the United States , well… such a person should probably be looking at more consequences than just having his Twitter account axed. Can I get an amen on that? (If we’re friends on Facebook I’m just going to assume that I can.)

But what should those consequences be? Who is responsible for carrying that out? Sounds like House leadership is going to impeach the 45th president of the United States a second time, and that only seems right. Whether that has any meaningful consequences is almost beside the point. They took an oath to do this under these kind of circumstances. It’s what they are there to do. Not doing it will have lasting bad consequences.

Should there be criminal charges? Probably so. Unless, I guess, he is pardoned for those crimes first. In which case… can’t the District go after him?

Also, what does the next two weeks hold in store for us?

Finally, putting the president aside for a minute, here’s another concern: what do we do now that we know there are tens of millions of Americans who think that these horrific, treasonous events were good, right, and necessary? They’re not going anywhere. What do we do about that? Not only are they not going anywhere, but where there’s a constituency, there will be leaders who arise to ride it. What will we do about them?
