So I manage a few different websites, including this one. They all use WordPress and Divi. Lately I’ve been seeing a “site health warning” notification when I log in to one of them. I should do something about that, I said to myself. Then I noticed that I had the same warning for this site. So today I decided to do something about it.
When you click the warning it gives you a list of things it doesn’t like. You aren’t using SSL. You’re using an outdated version of PHP. You have unused plugins. Blah, blah, blah. So one by one I address them. Deleting unused plugins and themes is no problem. I even figured out how to upgrade my PHP. (It was easy to find when I logged into my web host provider. But I had to fiddle around with it, essentially apply the change several times, before it took.) Then I got my free SSL certificate and boom. Site health is now A-OK.
Now I feel prepared to do similar maintenance on the other sites. That was, after all, the reason I created this website: to keep my skill sharp for the real maintenance and development I have to do for sites that really matter.
